I would like to attach a wooden swing inside my house for the children to swing on. Tell me how please!?

I bought the swing at IKEA it has a wooden seat with two ropes to attach to a tree or possible rafters in a house! Family friends had a swing in the kitchen of their old farmhouse that lasted through many children! Now that we have an old house (built in 1919) I want to know how to do this same thing in my home (without destroying the house)! HELP Be specific please!

You have to find the ceiling joists and you have to be very certain about this. It is east to be fooled in these old houses when you go through the plaster and hit wooden lathe. I would mount steel brackets to the ceiling with a minimum of three #10 or #12 wood screws or lag bolts each. Hang the swing from that and test it with something inanimate and expendable to at least twice the weight of the anticipated load. You can’t be too careful with this. I know someone who was very badly injured when a porch swing gave way.
