How do you prevent mold from growing near your plants?

I have a food tray for my guinea pig and I looked under it and it had cobwebs of mildew. Though I’m sure if you set a bowl or something outside it wouldn’t grow mildew under it? Trying to figure ot the difference between inside a cage and outside.
I’ve turned my guinea pig’s cage into a miniature garden. I seale the bottom of the cage so water couldn’t leak out.

Move your food try rather than keeping it in the same location. Also make sure that you keep the area clean. Mold comes, in this situations, when old food accumlates and becomes moist. Happens all the time under bird feeders. I clean up the seed continually and keep the area clean. I also change the location of the bird feeders each year. But the best advise is to keep the area clean of food debris.
