12. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. —

While many can say that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was a disappointment in his first year driving the Hendrick Motorsports juggernaut, his season was not so bad when weighed against their teammates. Besides Jimmie Johnson, it is difficult say that his teammates beat him. Jeff Gordon enjoyed several strong races towards the end of the season, but overall, Earnhardt, Jr. won one race and led most laps.

Hendrick Motorsports was not the same operation that were up in 2007, so that the season fell short of expectations compared.

In 2009, we expect Dale Earnhardt, Jr. to improve the 2008 season and qualify for the Chase for the Championship for the second straight season. He is likely to win a race or two.

11. Matt Kenseth —

The goose egg in the win column for Matt Kenseth in 2008 is rather disconcerting. Although Kenseth does not win races in bunches, which has won at least one race every season from 2002 to 2007. After a slow start to the season, Kenseth took performance, but not at the level they are accustomed. He scored 20 top ten finishes than any driver except Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch, so coherence is not the issue. They just do not put in position to win very often.

In 2009, Kenseth should return to victory lane. Moreover, a driver its consistency is unlikely to miss the Chase for the championship.

10. Kyle Busch —

Kyle Busch had the field covered for the first 26 races of the 2008 campaign, and he accumulated eight wins. However, once the Chase for the Championship began their championship aspirations suddenly disappeared. 9. Tony Stewart —

Tony Stewart has appeared in headlines quite frequently in 2008, but it was not for their achievements on the track. Stewart will work to manage their own operation Sprint Cup in 2009 and beyond with Ryan Newman as his teammate. Ironically, Stewart began the season when Newman maddening happened down the stretch on the Last Lap of the Daytona 500.

Stewart's only victory came at Talladega but in October, more than one years after his previous victory at Watkins Glen in August 2007.

It is difficult to project how the 2009 season will be reflected to Stewart and Stewart Haas Racing. Stewart is likely to challenge for race wins at tracks flange plate tracks and road course, but beyond that, we must take the 'wait and see what happens. "

8. Denny Hamlin —

7. Jeff Gordon —

For the first time since his rookie season in 1993, Jeff Gordon could not to reach victory lane. However, there was a terrible year for Gordon and 24 of the group by any means. Gordon's season was similar to Matt Kenseth in the fact that it was competitive, not only enough to fight for victory many. Gordon posted five top thirteen and nineteen ten.

In 2009, Gordon won a race, if not two, three, or four. It is too early to make a gesture as the favorite for the championship, but do not be surprised to see the 24 cars chasing the championship next fall.
