Should we modify a CRF50 to drive on the street?
I was looking for my state law, and reads as follows: http://tennessee.gov/safety/driverlicense/classm.htm (last line in the first table). It would have to modify a crf50cc to ride legally on the street?
First, the last line in the first frame says: "Anyone with a valid driver's license in Tennessee may operate a motorized bicycle …" Elsewhere in the Tennessee Vehicle Code http://michie.lexisnexis.com/tennessee/lpExt.dll?f=templates&eMail=Y&fn=main-h.htm&cp=tncode/ 1, which states that a "motorized bicycle" is transimssion automatic and less than 2 hp. That bike has a bit of land manual transmission and produces at least 5 hp. That can never be turned into a "motor bike." You driver license required for motorcycle CRF50 legally go on the streets. Cyclists need to register for lighthouses, lights, brake light, turn signals, turn signal switch, brake light switches (front and rear), horn, and probably a quieter muffler. It should also modify the engine emissions street legal and have certified as being legal. As a legal term emissions that many tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees. Only a bike is already street legal – it's a hell of a lot cheaper.
