Is it true that gelatin is made with no animal parts?

I'm a vegetarian, who has always avoided the knowledge-based gelatin that was a byproduct animal. As far as I know it still is (I can find no information to the contrary), but a friend of mine insisted that there is no animal more. He thinks it was the "old fashioned" way and now it is entirely artificial. My mother thinks that can only mean that is so elaborate that only account but still will not eat an animal product. If anyone knows of some cold, hard facts to prove that I am not willing to listen, but I really do not think it changed. Be gelatin is not vegetarian, but I do not use commonly think it is more expensive and therefore not worthwhile for most businesses. Anybody know anything about this?

Not sure about where you are, but where I am (Australia), most gelatin is still animal parts such as skin and hooves – Often have to look hard to find vegetarian / vegan. However, aircraft Jelly (gelatin call it here), so far I have avoided like the plague, has recently come out with a quick "-set" gelatin powder is based on pectin (ie fruit), but their regular versions are still made with animal-based gelatin. There is also the agar (also known as agar-agar, agar-agar or kanten) I know, which makes the cell walls of red algae or algae and, often found in the laboratories of science as a culture medium, but Western companies prefer vegetable gum pectin or agar – possibly something to do with the mild laxative effect … Personally, I tend to go to Asian supermarkets (try Chinatown, if you have one nearby) for my non-animal gelatin material is much easier to find, usually have a pretty decent range of flavors and often values of different types of replacement of gelatin, as well, and are generally much more cheap. Plus they have a lychee flavored one … always a plus. ^ _ ~ But you're right, it is more expensive to use vegetable-based forms and the meat industry, probably is not running without helmets in the short term and the leather seems to be increasingly fashionable, so unfortunately I will be using parts of animals for a while …
