What is the best entry level job with a good pension, (like the auto makers).?
Firms that still offer defined benefit pension are typically in regulated industries (like power companies) or government contractors (like the defense industry).
What these companies have in common is a “cost-plus” pricing structure. They determine what their “costs” are to produce a unit of output (tank or kilowatt of electricity) and set set prices so as to cover that cost and a profit.
These industries are not price competitive meaning they do not have to cut prices to compete with other companies.
So go find a job as an entry level engineer at Boeing or as a lineman for your local electrical utility.
In the public sector, pensions are also still very common, so your other good choice is as a civil servant, a teacher, a policemen, or fireman.
