When will the old railroads back in the U.S.?
When the railways as the Baltimore and Ohio, New York Central, Pacific South, Denver and Rio Grande Western, Santa Fe, Great Northern, Northern Pacific, and Rock Island come to run again in the U.S. and put his new railway lines in committee. When will the Government put it back in the business lines and used for what they were intended?
I will agree with Andy, the freight railroads are highly profitable in recent years with revenues measured in millions of $ $. The old companies may disappear due to mergers or reorganization, but most of the lines are there under different names. Sure there are a bunch of lines left, but generally they were redundant or simply not profitable. You can not have a branch of 30 miles to a grain elevator. Edition, jak, of course you're right with a big revenue lift, I was thinking about a couple of lines I used to work, Montana Grass Range, Winifred, Montana, and others. These lifts slightly smaller than is used to work, carrying one or two cars a week for half of the year and were 30 miles, which simply does not generate revenue to keep the lines to them.
