Hard to find sponsors for Ganassi and Yates Earnhardt

The lack of sponsorship for numerous teams in the Sprint Cup garage is further evidence that NASCAR not immune to the economic downturn. It is not just a couple of small, reducing the budget, filling the field of teams who face these difficulties. Some of the organizations sponsoring NASCAR experience problems.

As you know, the sponsors can make or break a team, or even an organization. Because costs are so excessive, but necessary to compete at this level in NASCAR, sponsorship sufficient is vital for adequate funding. In other words, if you can not find a company or group of companies to advertise in their Race Car, it is possible that as keep the car and crew in the shop. NASCAR is so dependent on sponsors, almost to the point that is vulnerable at a time like this.

In the decade 1990 until early 2000, sponsorship of a NASCAR team was really a bargain. That's why you do not see too many cars with white hoods and quarter panels in the track. About five or six years ago, the sport entered the mainstream, and because of exposure and attention, the cost was higher, which meant companies had to pay some big bucks to keep their piece of the advertising of NASCAR. In the process, many companies could not afford to sponsor a team NASCAR, or did not see the need to pay high prices.

Procter and Gamble and its Tide brand sponsored a team of NASCAR 1987 to 2005 before retiring. Citgo began marketing in NASCAR back in the 1980's, however, in 2003, could no longer afford to continue as main sponsor. Kodak, Pennzoil, McDonald's, GM Goodwrench, Motorcraft, Valvoline and considerably reduced its involvement in NASCAR sponsorship.

Ask Chip Ganassi and Felix Sabates how hard it is during this economic crisis. If you need further confirmation, well, you can talk to Doug Yates and Max Jones. Even Richard Petty, the king, had to merge with another organization to survive. In fact, Petty still has sponsorship problems with one of its teams.

After Chip Ganassi Racing merged with Dale Earnhardt Inc., which hoped to field four teams full time. However, the No. 41 team disbanded, and the N ยบ 8 is hanging by a thread. Several stations have sponsored members Aric Almirola and the No. 8 team, but not enough to compete full time. The team is trying to remain optimistic.

"We're having conversations with many companies would be able to take perhaps the entire second half and much of that. What we have to do is get there and now we're not getting as many people that shows what we know, and what sport it is. So far, it have done, has been a great success, "Earnhardt said Ganassi Racing President Steve Lauletta.

Yates Racing driver Travis Kvapil could be a victim of the poor economic conditions. Kvapil and his team finished 23rd in the Sprint Cup qualifying in 2008 but who had to qualify his way in the races after their points were transferred to the new team with sponsorship driven by Paul Menard. Golden Corral and Farmers Insurance have sponsored Kvapil in the selection races, but neither expects to remain in the car for the duration of the season. If sufficient sponsorship funding continues to lack, could be disastrous for Kvapil and equipment, and that seemed to edge of some solid performances a few months ago.

AJ Allmendinger, a rising star of Richard Petty Driving Motorsports can not compete in the full list of races due to lack of sponsorship. Allmendinger finished the 2008 season with some outstanding performances and finished third in this year Daytona 500. However, if they can not sign a long term sponsor, will compete only in a part-time basis.

These teams must undertake to attract the attention of interested companies, but sometimes, even the return does not open up the checkbook to these firms.
